Whale Watching...

For Labor Day we decided to go on a whale watching tour. You never know how these things are going to go, but we had a great time! We left on a boat from Boston Harbor and headed out to find the whales! Last year we went on a Harbor Cruise and sort of "island hopped" so this was sort of a similar experience...lots of lighthouses and a great view of Boston from afar.

The whales would come up to the top arch their backs and then slap their massive tales on the water to "stun" the fish. They would then come back up with their mouths open and eat the fish. It was really neat to see & the pictures just don't quite do it justice.

In this picture it is a Mommy whale and a baby whale. Our guide told us she was teaching the baby whale how to hunt for food on its own. Also they said the baby whales gain about 150 lbs a day just on their moms breast milk!!! I couldn't believe it! They were really cute & we were able to see several of them right next to our boat. Definitely worth the trip!
